Italy's renowned car designer, Pininfarina, who brought you Ferrari and Maserati, delivers their interpretation of an urban lifestyle hotel. In the Pininfarina tradition, the environment is characterized by pure, clean, ergonomic design, where breathtaking form meets function in every possible detail. What remains is the essential, but not the minimal. The use of materials, colors and lighting combine to give a warm welcoming atmosphere to all hotel guests.

Modern Italian Design is punctuated by the use of historical details. The result is a unique emotional experience - a catalyst for the imagination.

Food & beverage

The Lounge - Relax and indulge yourself in the semi-private subterranean lounge, exclusive to guests of the hotel and an eclectic mix of the who’s who of Southern California. True VIP bottle service will be offered where your personal host shakes martinis table side while down-tempo tunes provide the perfect backdrop for conversation.

As with the entrance to the hotel, the predominant color is red, creating a rich passionate atmosphere. The walls are punctuated by peeks to the original brick and stone, showing the heritage of the building. The bar has a high-tech feel and is made entirely from aluminum and steel. The social area changes from day to night with the help of the lighting and curtains which unroll from the ceiling to create a more private atmosphere. The result is truly unique, where the emotion of Italian design and cuisine, the personal service and the strategic location, promise to make The Keating an unforgettable experience.

The Vault @ The Lounge - The social center of the hotel, encompassing dining and cocktails, the lounge has as a focal point – The Vault. This wine bar, a red brick structure once an actual vault for a previous tenant of the building, will be decorated by a limited edition of Pininfarina wines selected from some of the best wines of Italy.

35 luxurious stanzas (Italian for guest room) and suites have all of the seductive qualities of custom designed furnishings with vaulted ceilings and up to the minute amenities like Bang & Olufsen’s Beo Vision electronics and Dornbracht fixtures. The rooms are conceived without interior walls to create a new interpretation of space, taking away the traditional division of the warm and wet zone.

Room was very comfortable and very well equipped.

The hotel is located in the centre of Gaslamp quarter which is very noisy area on Friday and Saturday overnight.

I stayed at The Keating last year when I was in San Diego for the same event. I returned because I liked the location, the hotel atmosphere, value, etc. The bed is wonderful.

The second night I was there, I was awakened during the night by loud bangs, crashes, thumps on the floor, and found I was unable to sleep. This continued from 1-4 am. After I brought it to the attention of the hotel staff in the morning, they indicated that there had been other complaints. I felt, however, they did not act quickly enough to correct the problem.

The room is beautiful, nice design, everything new and clean.

It's a pitty that the hotel does not have any facility besides the room (not a bar, restaurant, pool)

Lo stile, veramente unico: un'esperienza veramente irripetibile di lusso e stile. Lo staff, disponibile e puntuale. La posizione è perfetta per divertirsi nei locali del Gaslamp Quarter (centralissimo!).

La colazione non è molto abbondante.

Un albergo dove è impossibile dormire, (però ci sono i tappi per le orecchie in stanza)! La nostra stanza (la seconda sera ce l'hanno cambiata ed è stato un po' meglio) era in un'ala dell'albergo che dà direttamente sui generatori di aria condizionata che producevano un rumore continuo notte/giorno assolutamente insopportabile, cui va aggiunto il rumore del bar fino alle cinque del mattino
