The Gay Hotel Golden Bear has been welcoming its predominantly homosexual guests in the heart of Amsterdam since 1948.

Our establishment is the first of its kind and located between 2 historical buildings from 1737.

From 1. January 08 we are a strictly non-smoking hotel.

Hotel information

For special periods like Queensday (30 April), Gay Pride (first weekend of August) and New Year's Eve, the hotel will charge your card for the equivalent of one night's stay at the moment of reservation. There will be no refund in the case of cancellation.

Area information

The hotel is situated in the very centre of Amsterdam and is close to all the gay bars, clubs and saunas.
The crew will be happy to give you any information you need during your stay

Friendly staff (like a B&B)...w/clean comfortable beds, healthy breakfast served everyday and an the perfect location!

The stairs are steep...it's almost like climbing a ladder...but I was running up and down in no time.

The amazing, central location in a really nice area. The friendly, helpful staff. The room was well kept and comfortable.

The rooms with private shower are on the 3rd floor with the traditional nerrow and very steep dutch staircases

The breakfast area was uncomfortable.

Friendly helpful staff. Nice breakfast (but no choices on offer). Also liked the fact that the whole hotel is non-smoking (or at least supposed to be!).

The room was spacious, staff was really friendly and helpful, great value for money, right in the middle of everything, good decoration, free wireless internet, breakfast until 12!!!! Will stay there again in the future.

The price as quoted through the booking agency, and which I had in writing, was changed to a much higher price once I arrived at the hotel.

tv, dvd, wifi free, nice view, clear room (big windows and clear sheets bed); location of the hotel, close to tramway, and close to channels, personnal quite friendly and helping

yes : no elevator, extremly tiny stairs (as they do in Amsterdam) and i was on the last floor! also room for breakfast is too small

The location is very good, all the things that makes A'dam great are near. The value for money is great, no sower in the room, but one upstairs. The towels were old and torn, but the most important thing was that it is clean and comfy. For budget travellers: go here!

The torn towels were a bit tacky...

I liked the friendly staff , the central location , the relaxing breakfast area , and your cat.

The room we stayed in could have a more warming colour on the walls but apart from that,everything was ok.

Fin central beliggenhed i rolige omgivelser.

Rengøring. Håndvasken på værelset var snavset og affaldspanden fyldt da vi ankom. Blev ordnet næste dag.
