Beautifully set on the edge of the Mendip Hills, between Bath and Wells, this 3-star, family-run hotel provides a relaxed and friendly environment, complemented by a highly professional service.

The ideal base from which to explore many of the local attractions, within easy reach of the hotel is the unique World Heritage site of Bath, including the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, the Thermae Bath Spa and the magnificent Cathedral. Also nearby is the moated Bishops Palace at Wells, mystical Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge, Historic Maritime Bristol and the many areas of natural beauty in the Quantock and Mendip Hills.

For your relaxation, you can enjoy complimentary use of the extensive leisure facilities, including a fully air conditioned gym, sauna, steam room, spa pool and indoor swimming pool. Hotel information

The recently enlarged fitness centre contains the most up-to-date cardiovascular and resistance equipment, complete with sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, exercise pool and aerobics area.

The Fosseway Golf Club, founded in 1971 is a 9-hole course. The parkland course is well maintained and well established with many of the fairways lined by an abundance of mature trees. It has earned a fantastic reputation for offering both a challenging and interesting round of golf to suit players of all levels and abilities.

Food & beverage

Centurion offers 2 different eating venues:
- Cubros Bar and Restaurant: set on the northern escarpment of the Mendip Hills, Cubros Conservatory boasts views that are rarely beaten. Chefs prepare menus with a difference, from traditional Sunday lunch carvery to light, healthy lunches and, for dinner, a choice of innovative modern English cuisine all set in a welcoming, relaxed and unique setting.

- Jays Bar: a more relaxed and informal atmosphere, here you can relax and enjoy some of the bar snacks on offer, whilst soaking up the atmosphere.

Room information

All of the 44 rooms are comfortable and well proportioned, many looking out onto the gardens and the parkland of the golf course. Each room is well equipped, with all the modern comforts and facilities you need in a restful, relaxing base.

Important information

The hotel are currently refurbishing their bedrooms. This is due for completion by 27 February 2009.

The swimming pool will be closed for annual maintenance from 16 until 21 December 2008.

Rooms recently updated, coffee and tea making facilities and more than 2 milk, staff frendly

Breakfast was a little dissapointing - what was on offer for full english we choose what we required, no hash browns arrived and portions very very small, having stayed at other best westerns this was a weak area

the hotel was nice the bedrooms had been modernized and looked great the bathroom still looked a little dated and the fried breakfast wasnt as good as some at other hotels, i would still recommend this hotel some rooms are still being decorated but after this it will be even better

The room was fair-sized and warm.

For well over a hundred quid a night, we found the coffee/milk supply in the room a bit derisory. Four tiny pots of 'milk' and 3 biscuits to see us through an afternoon/evening/morning? If you charge well over a hundred pounds for spending one night in a room, people expect a little more than just a bed and a tv. Made you look cheap.

Friendly helpful staff. Very good table d'hote meal

No lift, and steps to restaurant area. Also bed was too hard for comfort could have done with a mattress topper.

The layout of the hotel and the gardens and grounds were beautiful.

Just the convoluted corridors to the bars and restaurants.

Sachets of Galaxy hot chocolate. Slate table mats. Attentive staff at breakfast.

Noisy car park with speed bumps under window. Mattress was like a bouncy castle. Poor sound proofing - had to endure neighbours arguing half the night and hurling things at the wall. Rubbery breakfast.
