Recently taken over, Claremont Lions Hotel is now part of the Lion Hotels Group Ltd which is a family owned and run business.

You will immediately be impressed by the sense of space in the public areas. The rich wood finish and leather Chesterfields give a feeling of boutique style. All our bedrooms have been recently refurbished and feature a hospitality tray. Furthermore many rooms have fridges.

This 3-star, listed elegant looking Victorian Hotel situated in a prime position opposite the pier and famous Carpet Gardens, with fantastic views across the channel. The Claremont offers an excellent standard of accommodation, food, service and a very warm welcome.

Food & beverage

Breakfast is served from 07:30 until 09:30.
Dinner is served from 06:30 until 08:00.

Area information

The Claremont Lions Hotel is just a short level of walk from Eastbourne's excellent shopping centre, 3 theatres, the Devonshire Park tennis arena and new Cultural Centre. A healthy seafront walk is a must and you can take the bus to Beachy Head and enjoy a 3 mile stroll back; all downhill.

We had a roof facing the English Channel as requested. The location is outstanding, right across from the Pier. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Full English breakfast was good and wait staff was very friendly and fast with service.

Staff were brill. Very helpful, and friendly. Bar price were resonable too

The cooked breakfast was very small and not very nice.

Location to Seafront. Close to shops and pier

My room was very, very small. Although it was booked as a single room I would not have had any room for a suitcase at all inside the room, it barely enclosed a single bed, a chair and a chest of drawers. For less money i could have stayed in a Premier Inn and had a double bed, sofa and a bath in the ensuite bathroom. Decor is very outdated and i have to say shabby now.

Visit daughter.

The room was appalling wallpaper hanging off, bathroom door would not close, toilet difficult to flush, damp coming through walls, T.v reception poor. Excessive noise from lift door through the night. Would never use this hotel again. Can not believe this has a three star rating.

nice bed, clean room

yes plenty, noice coming from hallways and doors is unacceptable and no car parking available. Staff all seemed non uk so found it hard to communicate 100% which when paying money etc its too much to risk if someone didn't understand.

Bedrooms could do with updating a bit, everything looks a little tired!I know it can't be helped but it is noisy at night around the pier area

View from hotel....staff very helpful...food was good....large fridge supplied...good value for money..

Breakfast could buffet style..(and then guests would know what they are getting etc) Bathroom/shower..holes in walls??(this was the same in the main rooon)...pannel off under shower...needed a general paint in all areas to smarten up room..

The staff were extremely helpful. The rooms were spacious and very clean.

The hotel appeared to cater for large coach parties. When we, therefore, had dinner later than the majority of the other guests at 7.30pm there was little choice remaining. The menu was the same for private guests and for coach parties, however we felt that the coach parties were probably not paying the same price. At £15 per head the evening meal was extremely poor value.

Good value for money. Breakfast was very nice.

The fact that it was so near the pier and was very noisy on Friday & Saturday night. Double glazing on the front rooms would help.

The noise each night. Unable to sleep until the night clubs closed. Guests should be warned.

Very comfortable bed

My room needed more ventilation as the window would not stay open! TV was only tuned to BBC 1 & 2.Channel 3 & 4 did not work!
