Situated on the seafront and enjoying breathtaking sea views, this delightful, privately-run property is set in Eastbourne’s west end, boasting easy access to all of the local attractions.

Voted 'Best UK Resort 2006', Eastbourne houses a number of sites for all tastes. Directly opposite the Wish Tower, the hotel is just 2 minutes away from Theatre Land, the Congress Theatre, Devonshire Park and Winter Garden. It is also close to the beach, shops and the station.

Set within a wonderful Victorian property, The Oban features an idyllic sun terrace and balcony; fantastic for soaking up the sunshine, enjoying the sea view and watching the world go by.

Hotel information

There are 2 comfortable lounges with a balcony and sea views. A grand piano can be found in one of the lounges and is a firm favourite with guests wanting to share their musical talents, but is subject to availability.

For guests enjoying a private party or function, there is a variety of entertainment including live music, (subject to availability and the number of guests). The hotel's pianist will be only too happy to play a mixture of Latin, blues, jazz and classical music on the grand piano.

All floors are serviced by a lift.

Food & beverage

The new Compton Restaurant, opened in April 2006, is a restaurant dedicated to the highest ideals of traditional English and European cuisine.

The accredited resident chef, Declan, has a passion and respect for European cuisine and, combined with his creative flair and understanding, has developed a menu that is traditional yet innovative.

The best quality ingredients, many locally sourced, produce a richly varied menu and beautifully crafted dishes.

Seating up to 55 guests, the restaurant can cater for large groups but still offer an intimate dining experience.

Lit by glorious sunshine by day and chandeliers and candlelight by night, the restaurant exudes an atmosphere of quality and grace.

The Wine Cellar, personally selected by the proprietors and head chef, offers a wide variety of fine wines to compliment your meal.

The fully licensed bar is open to serve a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Area information

Infamous Beachy Head is a must see when visiting Eastbourne, the panoramic views from the cliff tops are astonishing, the beautiful Sussex Downs and surrounding countryside are a short drive away and promise yet more to see and do.

Sport enthusiasts will find Eastbourne performs well with many fitness facilities and centres to keep you moving, with activities such as swimming, tennis, bowls, golf, skating, cycling and water-sports.

Good location. Room a little small and basic but clean and comfortable. Was very cold outside but hotel room lovely and warm. Bathroom warm and nice hot shower. Breakfast good- lots of choice, pleasant and quick service.

Only that there was not a shampoo and I forgot to pack some! Luckily there was a shop just around the corner.

the ultimate friendliness, helpful and attentive. very home from home feeling a charming couple who should go far in this industry

for what i paid, and from the information on the website i expected a higher standard of accomodation. It was very basic, and probably my worst B&B experience ever.

The staff were Great !! makes a world of diiference when staying somewhere. Our room had recently been redecorated and was definitely better then most. All round we had a good experience. By the sound of the other guests we werent the only ones.

The hotel is in a good location.

One of the drinking glasses was dirty and there was a hole in the middle of a small towel. The room also had no DVD player and overall lacked character!

Staff were very freindly and helpful. We stayed in one of their refurbished rooms and were suprisingly pleased to find leather tub chairs flat screen TV plus new furniture. Refreshing given that many of the hotels in the area have tired rooms. Price was also very reasonable. The young couple who run the place are absolutely wonderful

It evident thay are apgrading the hotel and rooms differ accordingly. If the whole hotel ends up looking like our room it will certaily be a venue we would visit regularly.

newly decorated room,with comfortable bed,and good views over devonshire park.....

the shower it seems was designed for persons no taller than 5ft!!!,bar that, all was well!!!.
