A comfortable family run inn (3 stars) in the historic village of Auldearn. The Covenanters is in an ideal location to explore the magnificent scenery of the North and West Highlands, Moray, Speyside, the Cairngorms and Aberdeenshire. Situated between Inverness and the historic town of Elgin and about 8 miles to Inverness Airport.
We offer a wide choice of good food. The Kiln Lounge Bar offers excellent food in historic surroundings. It is situated in the 'mill' section of the building.
After eating, why not enjoy a dram at the bar or sit in the conservatory and watch the sunset.

Food & beverage

Lunch and dinner are served in the friendly and casual Kiln Lounge. The menu has both local and international specialities and is supplemented with daily specials. Why not sample one of the many Scottish whiskies?

Room information

All of the bedrooms have an en suite bathroom. Many of the rooms were newly furnished in June 2008. The Covenanters (ground-floor throughout) has one bedroom that has been fully adapted with disabled facilities. Please see individual room details for a complete list of facilities on offer.

Area information

The Covenanters Inn is situated in an ideal location for exploring Inverness, Loch Ness, Forres, Findhorn, Elgin, Kinloss, Lossiemouth, Aviemore, Carrbridge and Grantown (plus many other Highland, Moray and Speyside attractions). Cawdor and Brodie Castle, Fort George, Culloden Battlefield and the Malt Whisky Trail – all just a stone’s throw away. If you need any help in planning days out, Douglas will be only too pleased to assist. He keeps up-to-date on where the Moray dolphins and Nessie have been sighted most recently!

An abundance of golf courses, beautiful beaches, and scenic walks are also close by. Choose from so many activities such as horseriding, hiking, cycling, swimming, fishing, tennis…. The list is endless.

Important information

All guests are requested to leave their room key with reception when leaving the hotel premises. If guests are returning to the hotel after midnight, please inform reception so that a key for the outside door can be organised.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. the food was excellent and great value for money including the breakfast. The rooms are very basic and a bit dated but fine for an overnight stay.

Staff and other guests very friendly.The locals use this inn and we found them very nice people and were great in the local knowlege of the area. The inn had a vg homely and a very good cooked breakfast and choice of juice and cereal, tea and coffee.We had an evening meal in the bar and my daughter who is very fussy did'nt like anything on the menu and the chef did her a very nice maccaroni cheese

The T.V in the bedrooms were small and not did not have a good reception.

The friendliness of staff

The TV handset did not work , previous tennant had removed battery, there was a brochure under bed, obviusly not noticed when room was cleaned.

Staff and owners so friendly and efficient, rooms small but comfortable, very clean and newly furnished. Great quality and choice of pub food. Good Scottish breakfast. Good value for money.

Really enjoyed the hotel but remember it is 3 star inn and is priced accordingly!

in fairness, the staff were friendly.

The decor throughout was a little tired, unless you like woodchip, the bed while very clean felt like sleeping on a bag of spanners, the room was very small if not a bit pokey, The bathroom was not very nice, cracked toilet seat, broken fittings, cheap shower curtain and no soap, not an experience I would like to repeat.

yes, first time I have stayed in a hotel that does not provide a top sheet on bed, and something that resemble a duvet. Very poor quality room, not worth the money. desperately needs upgrading.
