The Boat Hotel at Boat of Garten is a privately-owned Victorian sporting hotel set in the heart of the Spey Valley. Personally run, warm hospitality and confortable rooms assure you of a relaxing stay.

Originally built in Victorian times as the Station hotel for the prestigious Strathspey Steam Railway, the Boat Hotel while retaining many original architectural features, provides all the modern comforts demanded by today’s guests.

The Boat Hotel has recently changed ownership and has undergone a major refurbishment to restore public areas to their former Victorian style ... Wooden floors, Oriental rugs, marble fireplaces and an attractive library lounge, where aperitifs and after-dinner coffee may be taken in comfort.
A new restaurant, The Capercaillie features bold contemporary decor and modernist oil paintings ... A stunning environment in which to sample award-winning cuisine.

Hotel information

The hotel has two bars, quite different in style. One is a comfortable lounge bar where tasty bar meals are offered. The other is a lively public bar which, with its log fire, and occasional live music is a great favourite with the locals.
The hotel has a new fully-equipped function / conference room with facilities to seat up to 60 theatre style and 25 boardroom style layout.

Food & beverage

Breakfast is served from 08:00 until 09:30.
Lunch is served from 12:30 until 14:30.
Dinner is served from 18:30 until 21:00.

Area information

Set in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park, in the quiet village of Boat of Garten. Adjacent to the River Spey, the Strathspey Steam Railway, and the famous Boat of Garten Golf course.
With easy access to low and high level walking, also an ideal base for many sporting activities.

The Bistro Restaurant.

Not keen on the dingy public spaces e.g. corridors and lobby. Felt the hotel was in need of an upgrade.

We traveled on the steam train, played golf it was a good base to see places

The food was very good only complaint not enough. .

The breakfast was OK...

The is decor very dated.... and facilities were poor..... very overpriced hotel.... was told I would get an upgrade before I arrived there was no upgrade and I had to wait an hour and fourty minutes for the room. Drinks were expensive.... food was expensive.... room was very poor!!

I liked this hotel because it was an older building but in very good decor. My room was excellent and I wish I had been staying more than one evening. The staff were helpfull and very welcoming. I have spent many weeks in budget style hotels which cost more but have no character.

Sa situation, son style

On nous attribué la chambre juste au-dessus des cuisines, avec une odeur de friture en permanence dans la chambre et du bruit tôt le matin, alors qu'il y avait plusieurs chambres libres...
