A note from Sweep. Hello, my name is Sweep I am a Boarder Terrier, my friend Tanta the cat and myself live here. We understand that some people are allergic to us or might not like us, that's OK. We are very friendly and would love to meet any humans who wish to come and visit.

Arundel House previously The Market Cross Hotel is a privately owned Regency building in the Somerset village of Cheddar, at the foot of the Mendip Hills. The area is famous for strawberries, cheese and the wonderful caves, which are found in the mighty Cheddar Gorge. Evening meals are available, please book 24 hours in advance as as we cook from fresh to order. If you require more information please do not hesitate to contact us.

If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.

If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.

Children and extra beds

All children under 2 years are charged GBP 3.00 per night and person for cots.

All older children or adults are charged GBP 10.00 per night and person for extra beds.

Maximum capacity of total guests in a room is 4.

Extra beds and baby cots are upon request and need to be confirmed by the hotel.

Supplements will not be calculated automatically in the total costs and have to be paid separately in the hotel.

Pets are allowed on request. No extra charges.

Food & beverage

Breakfast is included in the price of the room.

24 hours notice required for 3-course evening meals in our small restaurant, as we can then cater to likes and dislikes and dietary requirements.

There is also a snacks menu that has light snacks and some more substantial snacks that are available until 22:00.

We also have a small bar in the lounge.

Room information

The hotel's bedrooms, all centrally heated, have colour television, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities, and non-smoking rooms.

Easy to access the city with bus stop out front. Staff were extremely helpful and very polite.

There were a few items in the room that need some minor attention due to wear and tear; light globe needed to be replaced, corner of wall had been hit a few times with the metal brace being exposed, but generally was to same standard as other hotels we had stayed in.

The proprietor was friendly and very helpful, knew the best restaurant near to the hotel which was excellent for our evening meal, just 10 minutes walk away. Although we were very tired on arrival, the meal and the hotel were very good.

Daar de afgesproken taxi op de avond van de vlucht niet aanwezig was belde ik dit hotel wat wij al 3 maanden van te voren hadden gereserveerd op met de mededeling dat de gereserveerde taxi er niet was waarna de hotel manager gelijk aanbood om ons die avond als nog op te komen halen zonder enige vergoeding hiervoor tevragen .wat wij een uitstekende service vonden
