The Bay is surrounded by rugged mountains, beautiful countryside, hobby farms, riding stables, wineries, tennis courts, golf courses and fishing sweet spots, both salt and fresh water, as well as an extraordinary selection of skin diving, kayaking, biking, sailing, cruising, bird watching and painting venues.
Cowichan Bay Village is an historic community of approximately 1500 people, with a commercial fishing fleet, marinas catering to pleasure craft, live-a-boards, houseboats and boatyards. The head of the Bay is shared by migratory bird wetlands and the salmon spawning estuaries of the Cowichan and Koksilah Rivers. The area is also home and inspiration to many very talented artists and artisans.
