Rickett Field Farm is a working dairy and sheep farm, which also offers a choice between Bed and Breakfast and Self-Catering guest accomodation. Both guest areas have recently been completely refurbished and offer warm, comfortable places to stay.
The Farm is situated in the small village of Dungworth, which is around 6 miles from the centre of Sheffield and 3 miles from the Derbyshire border. Dungworth is an ideal base for walking, hiking or touring the local Peak District National Park. Also being so close to the centre of Sheffield, a stay at Rickett Field Farm allows guests quick access to all of the city's local attractions.
The Bed and Breakfast guest area is located in the main Rickett Field Farm building and there are a selection of rooms available. There are 2 doubles, 1 single and 1 family bedroom and all are complete with a colour TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Full farmhouse breakfasts will be provided and other choices can be catered for too. There is also a small kitchen accessible from the communial lounge, which guests can use if they wish.
There are 2 bathrooms available for guests to use and both have bath and showering facilities. An array of books of local interest are provided, so you can get to know the surrounding area and attractions. The house is non smoking and as this is a working farm, children need to be supervised.
In the nearby village of Low Bradfield, we have the cricket field where there are matches most weekends through the summer. There is a picnic area beside a stream and a children's play area. Up the road in High Bradfield there is St Nicholas Church where visitors are welcome to look around. Just up the road from the church is the Old Horns Inn, where a good variety of lunches and evening meals are available.
Just down the road from the farm is Dam Flask Reservoir where there is fishing available on purchase of a licence and permit. Horse riding and golf are also available locally. Nearby Rother Valley Country Park has a wide range of water sports and walking cycle and tracks. Hillsborough Leisure Centre is 3 miles from the farm and offers a range of activities, including a leisure pool.
There is a good range of food shopping available 3 miles away in Hillsborough. For the more serious shopper Meadowhall Shopping Centre is just across town. Close to Meadowhall is Sheffield Hallam FM Arena where a wide range of shows and concerts take place, as well as some sporting fixtures. Next door to the Arena is the Valley Centertainment Sheffield complex, which includes a huge multi-screen cinema, a bowling alley and several restaurants and bars. Further down the road is Don Valley Stadium, a venue for athletics, rugby and some open air concerts in the summer.
