Laurel Cottage is a small family run guest house quietly positioned on the edge of Windermere Village, just a five minute walk to the restaurants, shops, cafes and pubs. We have five en-suite rooms which are tastefully decorated all of the rooms have tv and a dvd or video. Tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer cd and radio. We have a comfortable guests lounge which is stocked with books maps and information on the area. Breakfast is served in the dinning room, we serve a hearty full English breakfast, or a vegetarian option, using fresh local produce where ever possible, lighter breakfasts are also available.
Windermere is an ideal base to explore the Lake District, the nearby towns and Villages of Ambleside, Grasmere, Keswick, Coniston, Kendal and Ulverston are easy to reach by car, or bus. The busy Town of Bowness is a twenty minute walk or a short drive, there you can take a cruise on the Lake, hire a motor boat or, you if you are feeling energetic hire a rowing boat.
The Lake District is an excellent area for walkers of all levels, some of the walks to do from the house include, Orrest Head, School Knott, Post Knott, and Sherrifs Walk. We have maps and books, to help. John has also walked most of the higer fells and is very happy to give advice and ideas to our guests.
